Aurora Hills proudly presents our Mustangs of Quarter 4!  These students have great attendance, all 3’s and 4’s for work habit scores, are proficient or advanced in at least half of their classes and are wonderful students to be around.  We now introduce: 

Christian Bernal is our 8^th Grade Mustang of the Quarter at Aurora Hills!  He was originally nominated by Mr. O’Keeffe, though Ms. Lowther and Mrs. Bill also spoke up in support of his nomination.  Mrs. Bill shares that Christian “has the quiet resilience that is so easily overlooked and yet so greatly appreciated. He is a leader not through being boastful or loud, but in his dedication to quality work and mature behavior. He is a wonderful example of how our students should act and behave in the face of disturbance and disruption.” 

Our 7^th Grade Mustang of the Quarter at Aurora Hills is Sheridan Prince.  Sheridan has impressed many staff members at Ahills, including Mrs. Griego, Ms. Pedersen, Principal Stumpp and Mrs. Pearcey.  Ms. Hobein particularly noted that “she has worked so hard to learn all her music for our upcoming concerts, and came to all our after-school practices.  She is always in good spirits and has a great sense of humor.  I can’t imagine our orchestra without her!” 

Aurora Hills is thrilled to honor 6^th grader Ruthlene David with Mustang of the Quarter!  In addition to impressing Ms. Freese in math, Ruthlene also got kudos from Ms. Hobein who tells us “Ruthlene is an outstanding cello player.  She has dedicated herself to really learning all the music, and then some!  She always has everything she needs to be successful, and laughs at my silly jokes.  Ruthlene always has wears a smile and sets a great example for her classmates as a student who gets down to business but has fun at the same time.”

Overall, our Advanced Orchestra was rated the equivalent of “ADVANCED!”  Please congratulate the students when you see them.

Kathia Madera is our 8^th Grade Mustang of the Quarter at Aurora Hills!  She was originally nominated by Ms. Hobein, though Mrs. Bill and Mrs. Avendano-Curiel also spoke up in support of her nomination.  In addition to receiving all 3’s and 4’s for work habit scores in all her classes, she is also Advanced in Social Studies, Orchestra, Science and Visual Art.  She is very principled in her classes “monitoring her own growth and behavior”.  Kathia “has a kind heart, and her integrity and character stand out among all the rest. 

Our 7^th grade Mustang of the Quarter at Aurora Hills is Irina Amouzou!  Irina caught the eye of Ms. Pedersen in Spanish class and also wowed Mrs. Griego for “upping her game in science”.  Mrs. Pearcey is proud to see Irina develop the skill of valuing and prioritizing her time and politely saying no sometimes.  Irina not only earned all 3’s and 4’s for her work habit grades in quarter 3, but she is also Advanced in Social Studies, Orchestra and Science.  Her Orchestra teacher, Ms. Hobein, added that Irina “inspires others with her work ethic, good humor and patience with herself and others.” 

Aurora Hills is thrilled to honor 6^th grader Edgar Flores Cortes with Mustang of the Quarter!  In addition to getting the nod from Mr. Hazelwood, Mrs. Scales nominated Edgar for his proficiency in Math.  He is also Proficient in Visual Arts and is Advanced in all other subjects:  Science, Social Studies, Applied Technology and Literacy.  Edgar earned all 3’s and 4’s for his quarter 3 work habits and is noted for being “respectful”, “caring” and “always striving to do better”.  He maintains his personal integrity no matter where he is or who he is with.

The 6^th, 7^th and 8^th grade 24 tournaments at Aurora Hills were a huge success on Thursday, April 18. 

The 6^th grade started the day with exciting play.  Ryan Tran, Brandon Bates, Kendra Leslie and Jerusalem Tsige were the top performers in their grade that battled it out in the championship round.  The 7^th grade followed suit with Mercedes Deardeuff, Abraham Mejia, Erika Clemens and Lauren Mendoza sitting at the championship table for their grade.  8^th grade finished the day with the championship table filled by Sahra Bisetenge, Joseph Lamptey, Austin Snider and Christiana Rotibi. 

Chipotle gift cards went to the top 3 performers in each grade.  6^th grade recipients:  Brandon Bates, Kendra Leslie and Jerusalem Tsige.  7^th grade recipients:  Abraham Mejia, Erika Clemens and Lauren Mendoza.  8^th grade recipients:  Joseph Lamptey, Austin Snider and Chrisitana Rotibi. 

Congratulations to Ahills’ 24 Champion and beneficiary of $50 cash, 6^th grader Jerusalem Tsige; runner up and winner of $25 cash, 8^th grader Chrisitiana Rotibi; 3^rd place winner and heir of $15 cash, 6^th grader Kendra Leslie; and 4^th place competitor and recipient of $10 cash, 7^th grader Lauren Mendoza for their performance in the school 24 tournament.  Please congratulate them when you see them and wish them well when they represent Ahills at the district tournament on Thursday, May 2! 

Thank you to all participants at each grade level, the math department for their support and nominations, and the staff members who volunteered their plan time to help proctor a 24 table.  Also, thank you to the Ahills administration for their flexibility and support and the Aurora Hills PTSO for funding the school 24 tournament and district team.

Aurora Hills proudly presents our Mustangs of Quarter 2!  These students have great attendance, all 3’s and 4’s for work habit scores, are proficient or advanced in at least half of their classes and are wonderful students to be around.  May we now introduce:

EryKah Williams is our 8^th Grade Mustang of the Quarter at Aurora Hills!  She was originally nominated by Mr. Elliot, though Mr. Potoczak and Ms. Van Wagener were among others who spoke up in support of her nomination.  In addition to receiving all 3’s and 4’s for work habit scores in all her classes, she is also Advanced in Social Studies, Science, and Applied Technology.  She is very principled in her classes “getting caught up in Spanish class” and going “far beyond what is asked of her”.  EryKah is “a model to any middle school student and young person”.

Our 7^th grade Mustang of the Quarter at Aurora Hills is Jasmin Villasenor!  Jasmin caught the eye of Mrs. Ryan in Literacy class by being a risk taker and “not being afraid to try new things, ask questions or speak up in front of her peers”.  Jasmin not only earned all 3’s and 4’s for her work habit grades in quarter 2, but she is also Advanced in Social Studies, Orchestra and Science.  Her Science teacher, Mrs. Griego, added that Jasmin modeled inquiry by “always thinking of ways to do better as a student”.  All of Jasmin’s teachers agree they are “honored to be her teacher”.

Aurora Hills is thrilled to honor 6^th grader Pieter Sahertian with Mustang of the Quarter!  In addition to getting the nod from fellow Mustang of the Quarter recipient Xander Juarez, Ms. Hobein nominated Pieter for his work in Band, where he earned an Advanced grade.  He is also Advanced in Applied Technology and Social Studies and earned all 3’s and 4’s for his quarter 2 work habits.  Pieter balances his work as a student by “always taking his instrument home to practice” and “paying attention to everything happening in class” while also “being a leader since day one” and not being “afraid to play solos each week to show his progress”.
