Gateway High School is a continuation of the IB Middle Years Program which begins in 6th grade at Aurora Hills and continues on at Gateway High School through 10th grade. This helps the transition for 8th grade students into high school as the MYP at both schools follows the same framework of teaching and learning. All 9th and 10th grade students are automatically entered in the MYP. Gateway High School also works in partnership with Aurora Hills around the use of AVID strategies to help build college level skills.

ibAs juniors and seniors at Gateway, students can select to enter the full Diploma Program  (DP)which is a rigorous and comprehensive college prep program which prepares students to not just go to college but to be successful in college; some students may choose to just take a few DP level classes that match their interest and skill sets. Either way, Gateway high school provides students with choice around the courses and pathway for their future.

International Baccalaureate is a worldwide educational organization known for assisting schools to develop challenging academic programs of international education and rigorous assessment. IB aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Gateway High School has been an IB World School Since 2010 and is proud to offer not only the MYP but also the Diploma Program which prepares students for college and beyond.

All of the students will take the required coursework, but the emphasis within the classes will vary depending on the academic focus. Successful completion of MYP, at the end of 10th grade, will provide students with the depth of skills and knowledge to decide their educational pathway for the last two years of high school. They may opt for continuing with IB through the Diploma Program, select to take Advanced Placement classes, pursue coursework at Pickens Technical College or begin to take classes at the Community College of Aurora. We have also recently added ProStart culinary program for those interested in cooking and restaurant management.
