Marcella GarciaMarcella Garcia, Principal

I am excited to continue my work as the Principal of Aurora Hills Middle School.  I have been fulfilling my passion for education as an educator in various roles for more than 17 years. During this time, my experiences include teaching 6-12th grades, serving as a Dean of Students and as an Assistant Principal at the secondary level right here in Aurora.  For the past seven years, I have been in the Gateway feeder community.  I worked in the Overland feeder community for eight years before that, and have considered this community my “home” for the past 15 years.

I enjoy playing soccer, watching my children participate in activities they are involved with, taking walks/jogging, and spending time with my family and friends.  My two children keep me very busy in my "free time." My daughter, Lilly is a sophomore in high school and loves to play basketball. My son Donie is an eighth grader and loves to wrestle.

My job is to accelerate learning for every APS student every day.

I do my job by leading the staff and students to embrace their diversity, challenge their mindsets, think critically, and lead our community to think globally and act locally.

My community needs me to do my job.

John Buch, Assistant Principal

After years of teaching mathematics and supporting math teachers, I have found a home at Aurora Hills.  I love working with this team because there is a collective belief that we can create a learning environment that defies the current trends in education by providing students with personalized and engaging experiences.

When not at school, I enjoy spending time with my wife, daughter, and son. We go to the mountains, play soccer and softball, or just hang out in the yard. Whenever I get the time, I love to be back in school to push my own thinking.

My job is to accelerate the learning for every APS student every day. I do my job by fostering an environment focused on learning for all stakeholders, ensuring instructional practices align with research, and empowering teachers and students to think differently about the outcomes we can achieve. My community needs me to do my job.

Raynard Eddings, Assistant Principal

I have enjoyed working in education for many years and have served in many roles from classroom teacher, p.e. teacher, AVID instructor/coordinator, counselor to school administrator.  I have served in elementary, middle and high school buildings in Southern California, South Korea, Germany, and Turkey before arriving at Aurora Hills in 2013.

I enjoy most sports (now, more watching than playing) and spending time with my family which includes my wife and three college-age children. It has been an incredible experience participating in the transformation of young people of Aurora Hills as they take on the task of preparing for high school as they transition into and through adolescence.

My job is to accelerate learning for every APS student every day.

I do my job by leading teachers and influencing students to become active learners both in and out of the classroom.

My community needs me to do my job.

Maddie PuryearMaddie Denjongpa, Assistant Principal

I live my dream as an educator with passion and fidelity every day by working to provide equitable opportunities for every student. My undergraduate degree is from Metropolitan State University where I represented my family as a first-generation college student. I chose to pursue my passion for education and leadership and completed my master’s degree at Arkansas State University in Educational Leadership and Administration. Now, I am at the University of Denver working on my Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.
