The transition into more complex learning
Subject matter is more complex and students are exposed to new challenges and ideas including:
- Literacy. The most important work of 7th grade is for students to become critical thinkers who are able to analyze information for themselves to determine its validity and importance and be able to articulate the ideas/concepts.
- Mathematics. Students will be analyzing proportional relationships, drawing statistical inferences, evaluating probabilities, and begin describing geometric figures.
- Science. Throughout the 7th grade students will be able to utilize multiple sources of information and data to develop an understanding of chemical and metabolic reactions, matter and energy, and the dynamics of ecosystems. Students will use investigations to conceptualize aspects of cause and effect, scale/proportion/quantity, and system models.
- Social studies. Seventh grade social studies will provide students the unique opportunity to explore the interconnectedness of people across time and place! Throughout this year, students will develop and deepen their understanding of important concepts in social studies through case studies and inquiry into various places and time periods in the Eastern Hemisphere. They will make connections from the past to the present by examining the roots of current issues in the world.
